Best Things To Do With Kids

15. Orlando International Premium Outlets

Get your family designer clothes shop for less at the Orlando International Premium Outlets.
Huge discounts on adult and children’s brands.

Like branded clothing and at discount prices? There are several outlet malls like this dotted around Orlando, but the one on International Drive is simply the best.

You’ll find shops like Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, Nike, Calvin Klein and lots lots more.

14. The Mall At Millenia

Mall at Millenia is made for families to enjoy.
A fantastic mall, with the best Mother’s Lounge we’ve ever seen!

Most people know about Florida Mall, which we must say we still love (and has everything you would need from a mall), but the Mall at Millenia is just that extra bit more special.

Less well known, a little more up-market, but still with a fantastic range of stores, restaurants and the best mother’s lounge we’ve ever seen! Think first class airport lounge…but just for nursing mothers, and mothers with toddlers).

  • For kitchen lovers (like us), take a visit to Williams Sonoma.

13. Madame Tussauds Orlando

Madame Tussauds has waxworks of famous people from around the globe. Find your kids favourite TV stars.
Shrek at Madame Tussauds on International Drive.

12. Cirque du Soleil

Climb the iconic Vessel staircase in New York with kids, or take the lift up to the top.
The Vessel Staircase in New York is a sight to behold. Both from above and below.

The world’s most famous circus, but it’s so much more than that. Watch the best performers and acrobats from around the world entertain, and see a show like no-one else on earth.

11. Amway Center

Watching a basketball game in the US is a perfect activity for the whole family.
Watch the Orlando Magic in true American fashion. Basketball, cheerleaders, hot dogs!

So it’s not the center itself that we love (although it is nice), but the fun you can have at the events inside.

Stop by when Orlando Magic are playing, and you’ll be in for a good night of cheering, chanting, half-time entertainment, nachos and hot dogs.

When in America…

  • Basketball matches are frequent in season, so availability is good.

10. Orlando Science Center

Orlando Science Center is a fantastic family day out in Orlando.
A truly hands-on, interactive activity for hours and hours of fun!

Situated in Orlando itself, but only a short journey from all of the more well-known attractions. This science museum is perfect for kids of all ages, and provides hours of entertainment and fun for the whole family.

In the end, we had to drag our kids away as they got lost in a world of enjoyment and fun.

9. Splitsville

Bowling for children of all ages at Splitsville in Disney Springs, Orlando.
Take a family bowling trip to the next level at Splitsville in Disney Springs.

A brilliant (but somewhat pricey) bowling alley at Disney Springs. Perfect for a family activity in Orlando, with food and bottomless drinks served directly to your lane.

For even more value and fun, book a ‘half-day’ lane…and you get free refills for the entire duration of your stay (with the purchase of a soft drink).

  • Check the prices before you go. Off-peak with save you $$$.

8. AMC Dine-In Movie

AMC in Downtown Disney Orlando is the perfect activity for kids of all ages.
Dinner AND a Movie?! Why not!!!

What a brilliant way to enjoy a movie.

Use the menu located on the table in front of your seat, order your meals and drinks, and minutes later, your order will arrive as you relax in front of the big screen.

Even better, there’s no getting up for a refill, as you simply press the airplane style ‘call’ button, and someone will come straight to your seat, bringing you refills whenever you need.

7. Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf

A fantastic golf course in Orlando Florida, perfect for the whole family.
The best mini-golf course in Orlando, Florida.

Situated right on the brilliant International Drive. This place is what you hope for when you think of America, and mini golf.

A brilliant and well maintained pirate themed mini golf course, which is excellent for playing day and night.

  • Pirate Cove is a chain, and discount coupons can often be found online.

6. Disney Springs

Disney Springs is full of fantastic restaurants, entertainments, shops and more for the whole family to enjoy.
Jake and the Neverland Pirates at Disney Springs Orlando.

Absolutely FANTASTIC! A great way to enjoy a little bit of Disney for FREE!

It used to be called Downtown Disney, but after EXTENSIVE redesign and extension, it came back more than three times bigger, and much, MUCH better! And that is saying something, as it was already enjoyable before!

Enjoy free Disney entertainment, snack bars, and unbelievable restaurants. Or did we even mention the variety of Disney Stores?!

We would find ourselves visiting here just for a family stroll, as the environment is so friendly, welcoming and fun!

  • Unlike Disney Springs in California, parking here is FREE!

5. Discovery Cove

Get you kids up close and personal with nature at this amazing hands on resort in Orlando.
Swim with sharks, dolphins, and feed the stingray at Discovery Cove.

  • Buy together with Sea World and/or Aquatica passes and save $$$

4. Aquatica

Aquatica is suitable for all ages, and everyone will love it.
Aquatica has it all. Our favourite Water Park in Orlando

There are so many water parks in Orlando that you just won’t know which one to pick! But that’s why we’re here to help you.

Despite Disney’s several water parks, and Universal’s new rival, we still think the Sea World’s Aquatica is the best of the best.

Wonderful artificial beaches, wave pools, slides for adults, splash pools for kids, lazy rivers, etc etc. It all makes for a really fantastic day.

  • Buy together with Sea World and/or Discovery Cove passes and save $$$
  • Kids under 3 go free

3. Sea World

SeaWorld is a fantastic family day out that the kids will remember forever.
Riding Shamu at SeaWorld in Orlando.

I don’t know if there’s ever been a more magical feeling than sitting and watching my children’s faces, as Orca whales dance and play with their carers.

I know of no other attraction in all the world, that has made my children feel the need to love and care for the environment and our animals like this place.

With Shamu being the centre of attention, sometimes it’s also forgotten that this place also has some brilliant rides, and other shows!

  • For an extra special experience, purchase the Dine with Killer Whales experience.
  • Purchase with Aquatica and/or Discovery Cove Tickets to save $$$
  • Kids under 3 go free

2. Universal Orlando Resort

Visit the Wizzarding World of Harry Potter, or enjoy a ride through Jurassic Park. Universal has so much for kids to enjoy.
Two Fantastic Worlds, with amazing rides and experiences for the whole family.

NOTE: Universal would be our number one choice for older (8 years+) kids. For younger kids, we would definitely recommend Disney.

Universal is always going to have to settle for second best when in the shadow of its more popular neighbour. But that does not mean that it is worse in any way, and in fact caters to a different audience in just as magical a way.

A visit to The Wizzarding World of Harry Potter, a 3D ride with the Transformers, or a halloween evening at a Halloween Horror night will very quickly make you realise that this is no simple Disney copycat, but a fantastic park in its own right.

  • Even if you’re not a Harry Potter fan…you MUST try the Butterbeer!
  • Kids under 3 go free.

1. Disney World

Disney World in Orlando is truly a place that our kids dreams came true.
Where Dreams Come True!

Come on…what did you think was going to be number one?!

Even with Universal, Sea World, and so many other attractions, Florida would not be the destination it is today without Disney World.

There are just SO MANY choices of parks, dining, hotels, rides, activities, characters, experiences, shows, themes, etc. Even with two weeks dedicated to Disney World, you would never be able to fit it all in.

To kids, this place is something truly magical. To parents, the look on their kids faces, even more so!

  • For the quietest times, visit mid Jan-Feb, or mid Aug-Oct. These times are also better for lower temperatures.
  • Get there as soon as the gates open. Footfall picks up from 11am onwards, and you can get on a good number of rides without any lines if you get there on time.
  • Children under 2 go free.
